Last week, ALT Training hosted a highly successful AGL Practitioner Authorised Person (AP) Course at the ALT Training Academy in Wickford, bringing together aviation professionals responsible for the control, operation, and safety of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) electrical systems. The event reinforced both technical capability and operational confidence among delegates from across the industry.
Designed for individuals appointed as Authorised Persons — as well as existing APs, senior AGL technicians, and engineering staff involved in system control — the course provided a deep dive into the duties, responsibilities, and legal requirements of the AP role. Delivered by highly experienced instructors, the programme emphasised electrical safety, procedural compliance, risk management, and aerodrome best practices to ensure participants could apply their learning directly in their workplaces.
Throughout the week, attendees engaged with real‑world scenarios that built confidence in authorising work, overseeing electrical activities, and aligning their operations with industry standards. Practical discussions and interactive elements ensured that delegates gained not just theoretical knowledge but also the ability to address everyday operational challenges with greater assurance.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the relevance of the content and the opportunity to enhance their understanding of AP responsibilities. Several highlighted that the blend of structured instruction and real‑world context provided immediate value they could apply within their own airfield environments.
ALT extends thanks to all participants and looks forward to offering further AGL Practitioner (AP) courses throughout 2026. For more information on upcoming dates and how to register, please visit the AGL Practitioner course page or contact booking@alt‑training.com.
