Experience

This foundation led to senior engineering roles where he managed complex infrastructure, safety frameworks, and high-performance engineering teams in some of the world’s most demanding operational environments. Building on this experience, Edward transitioned into consultancy and training leadership, guiding ANSPs and CAAs on CNS/ATM strategy, safety case development, asset management, and regulatory compliance. As a founder and principal consultant, he established a highly successful CNS/ATM consultancy, delivering impactful solutions and trusted advisory services across the MENA and European regions.

His passion for professional development and workforce competence has made him a sought-after ATSEP and CNS/ATM instructor. He has designed, developed, and delivered ICAO-compliant training to more than 2,000 aviation professionals worldwide, significantly advancing training standards and capacity for organisations such as Entry Point North and the DGCA of Kuwait.

Driven, experienced, and globally respected, Edward continues to support the aviation community through engineering leadership, training excellence, and collaborative consultancy. His mission is to raise standards, share knowledge, and help organisations build safer, more resilient, and future-ready Air Navigation Services and if that wasn’t enough, he is also the founder and host of the successful aviation podcast Hjalta Sonstane which is available wherever you get your podcasts.
